100 weeks in and two to go!

July 6, 2015

HEYO!!

Well This is it! I have been here at work for 100 weeks now and I have only 2 weeks left!! It is so wierd to think that the end is near! I have loved and enjoyed being a missionary! This last weeks has been good and went super fast! We did have some problems with some investigators that we have this week and it bummed me out and yesterday was my last Fast Sunday in the mission Field! Today this email is coming in late because a couple senior missionary couples that live here in Chalco invited us to thier house to eat today! But over all it has been a good week with a ton of clouds and Rain! But it has been GREAT!!

Problems with investigators:
So this next saturday we were going to be baptising our investigator Angel who we have been teaching for over a month! BUT!!!! Yesterday he called us to inform us that he would not be coming to church cause he had a family event and he procceded to tell us that he had talked to his parents about him getting baptised (cause they are not members and are not interested in the message) And the are ok if he gets baptized but in a month!...... So we were like well flip what are we going to do because he was suposed to have his interview yesterday. So we decided that we will have to talk to him on Tuesday when we have our appt with him!

Then we found a family A week ago that we started teaching and we put baptismal dates with them for the 8th of Aug and all was going great! They had been to church last sunday and enjoyed it! But the thing is that they work in a school and the principal gives them assignments! and the spesific assignment that they got this last weekend was to paint the desks of a couple 9th graders cause they were super vandalized. They started on Friday and had all day Saturday and we hlped them out and we were ready to go for them to come to church on sunday! BUT!!!! The next day they were so focused on cleaning the school that they did not come! We went to go get them and they said that they had to much work! We told them that they could come for just the first hour to Sacrament Meeting! But they still said no and all the baptimal date that we had with them fell and our last baptism of the mission fell through!

Last Fast sunday:
So yesterday was my last fast and testimony meeting in the mission! And as we were sitting there partaking of the Sacrament a thought or a voic came to me and said "Hey it's your last fast and testimony meeting you should get up and share your testimony." So that is what I did! And I am glad I did! It was a great experiance and a wierd one to think that the next I will be home! But it was a good sunday!

Goodbye Lunch:
So like I commented before today we were invited to lunch! We have three pairs of senior missionaries here in the mission that are the secretaries for the mission and they invited us and a few other missionaries finishing thier missions a few weeks to go to Chalco and eat lunch with them! It was great it was grilled meat! It was super delicious! We had a great time as well! One of the missionary couples is from Roseville CA. And he was a missionary here in Mexico and he shared with us some stories and excited us to finish our missions strong! But it was great! So that is why this email is coming late!

President Packer:
On Friday July 3rd as a lot of us know President Boyd K. Paker President of the quourm of the 12 Apostols Passed away. I give a personal tribute to him and the way he taught! He was direct and he was brave about it! He always seemed to teach things that are always hard to understand in a simple way so that we all can understand! He was an amazing person and he served as an Apostle for more than 25 years! He was a spiritual giant for all of us! My prayer is that he rests in the glory of God and now works along with Elder Perry and all of the other Prophets and Apostles in the Spirit World!
Well that is about it for me this week I love you all and I hope that you all have a good week I pray that our Father in Heaven is with you all for where ever you go!

Love,

Elder Darcy

One Month To Go!

June 22, 2015

Well This is it!!!!

I have less than one month to go! Just like my grandma told me today "I remember when you left and I thought it was one month down and 23 more to go.  Now it is just the opposite." It is so wierd to think that I have less than one month to go! But things have been good! 2 weeks ago there were transfers but my companion and I did not have transfers so we are going to be finnishing our mission together! But all is well as we come up on the end together we have decided that we need to have the area ready for the next missionaries that will be coming in here!! But all is well we are working hard and doing all that we need to to be ready to go!!

Feelings of uneasiness:

Just like it says I have been having feelings of uneasiness recently knowing that I am in my last cylce of my mission and  I am moving ever more faster towrds the end of my mission! I honestly feel uneasy about coming home and I have finally realized that it is because of the love I have grown for the people here and then love of the work that we are having here!  But I know that as all things begin all things must end. I can say even though I  still have 4 weeks left I am sad to think that it is almost better but i can say this that i have felt the love of our loving father in heaven in my life more than befor and I know that all I have done has been for him!

One baptism more!

Well as of now we will be having one more baptism in our missions (my companion and I) and I have to say that it's pretty cool! we have a programed baptismal date for the 11th of july. The kid that we found actuall was brought to church by another memeber here from the city! The guys name is Angel and he is 21 and a golden investigator!! He has been to church the last 3 weeks and we are in the process of getting him ready for his baptism and he is super excited for that! The only challenge that we see with him is that his parents are hard core Catholics and he has not talked to them yet about getting baptized!.... But he told us this week that his mom told him that she is happy that he is finding god even though that it is not through their religion! so I have a ton of hope that all will go well and that there will be no problems from this point on.

a p-day of fun!

Today was a cool p-day! Today we went bowling with another 18-20 missionaries! It was a lot of fun! I  really enjoyed it and it looked like everyone else did as well!! we were the only ones in the bowling ally so they let us chooes the music tht we wanted to listen to and it was great cause we were bowling to the piano guys! so it was cool! But it was a calm day and the best part is that Sams club had a open house for people to come in and buy without a membership and it was really cool! so i baught stuff in bulk! It was great!
Well i hope that you all have a good week and that the Lord goes with you all in all that you do I love you all and I will see you soon!

Love,

Elder Darcy

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

May 25, 2015

Ok I feel bad!......

It has been forever since I have done a group email! I have been super busy and feel like I am running more than ever in my mission! I guess that is what happens to us "old Farts" Since the last time I have written A TON has happened! I have had more baptisms and transfers and Mother's Day and a trip to the center and an exercise tournament today and now I feel super weak and dead for all the running and playing and exercise that I have done today! At the end I will add the photo of my zone who won it all today!! So where to start where to start!

Well we will go last to most recent.  I have had transfers yet again and I am back in Ixtapaluca for the third time! I am in the ward Heroes! It is an awesome place and we have had one baptism here! It was great, We baptized a lady that has been receiving the missionary lessons for 4 months! She is super strong and now her family is listening to the discussions as well ! It is awesome!

Mother's day was good! I talked to my family for the last time in the mission field! It was
really weird when I was done I realized that the next time that I talk to my family it will be in person in July! Oh and talking about that I have received my return date! I will be coming home the 22nd of July! My flight leaves here (Mexico City) at 3:50 P.M. (that is 2:50 P.M. there in Utah) and I will be arriving in Utah at 7 P.M that evening! I am hoping customs won't take long because we are going to be a big group and it is going to be 7 at night and we just have to show them our papers this time
to show that we are citizens! We won't have to fill out visa papers since we are Americans! so I think 7:45-8 I will be out with my family again! It just feels so weird this is it the last eight weeks of my mission! It feels so weird that it is all ending!

So another cool thing happened! We got a visit as a mission from someone very special! On Friday May 15, 2015 we received a visit from Elder David A. Bednar! And it was an amazing experience! He got there and we were ready to take a picture with him! and It was great to have the meeting with him! He talked to us about faith and how it is a principle of ´power and action! And he said something that was awesome! He told us "you can't just pray and ask for power from god to open your mouths and talk to the people here, then just sit around and wait for that power to come. you just gotta get up and go! to invoke that request from God!" It was truly incredible he is also short... he is about my height actually we are pretty even he and I!

This last Monday we went to the center and we went on the tour bus and we bought some pretty cool ties! A member said that there was a tie sale there but there was not so I could only get one tie and it is cool it is a type of red and black checker pattern! It is pretty slick! The tour bus was a lot of fun and super cool! We saw a ton of places and of all days I left my camera at the house today so I will have to send the pics to my dad and he can post them on Facebook later! But we saw cool stuff like the monument of the revolution and the angle of independence and while we were on the bus
we met a guy who is a member from Canada and it was cool!

So today!!!! Today we had a an exercise day and a tournament! It was so much fun we did exercises like Push-ups and triceps dips, yoga (that killed me) then lunges and squats and that was right after the yoga so it  was not fun! Then we did crunches and planks! Then the sports were basketball, volleyball, and soccer!  And well WE GOT FIRST PLACE!! This is how it played out. The first game of basketball we lost. then we did exercise, Then we played volleyball and lost the first game but we won the second game! Then we did yoga and more exercise and then soccer and the fist game we won thanks to a goal and the second went to a penalty shoot out and it was tied 2-2 when it was our goalies turn to kick! He made the goal, he rocketed it past the other goalie and then he blocked the other goalie after his own goal so we won 3-2 on penalties! Then we did the planks and
crunches and we played one more game of basketball! and we won that one too! So our final pointage was 4 wins and 2 losses! but there were three teams with that same record so we had to do a three way tie to see who would win! The tie breaker was Free throws and one team went before us and they
made 2 of 10 then we went and the same elder who was our goalie  and helped us win in soccer made 7-of 9 free throws and one hna from our zone tried but missed. so we had a foot up on the other zone but we had to wait for one zone more and well they only scored 3 out of 10 baskets! So the zone
Moroni was named as President said it "Immortal Champs of the Battle of Chalco" it was fun and it was a great day!

So ya I am going to do my best to write this letter for the next 8 weeks as I finish my mission! I love you all and hope that you all have a good week! I know He lives and that He loves us! Love you all!

Love Elder Darcy

18 Months, Transfers, and a crazy week 1 of this transfer!‏

February 9, 2015

QUE PASO MUCHAHCHO!

Well Ya! It's just like the subject says I have officially been away from home for 18 months now! It is super crazy and it feels weird! With all that has been happening we have been running, running, running! But it has been super Good! I just have to say that I cannot believe that This last six months have gone by so fast! Just before completing 18 months we had the normal three month interviews with the President! The interviews were good and there were two different councils that he gave me! The first was: Elder you are now entering the quarter four of your mission. This is the 4th quarter of your mission and just like in a football or basketball game, Give it all you have! Don't look back! I know that your tired and you want to rest but you just have a little bit more to go! Bust it out and win this one not for the team or your family or you but for the Lord! the second one was this: When he was in the garden praying Christ had three of his Apostles wait by to keep watch for him! But as he was praying they fell asleep because they too had become tired and wanted to rest for a bit and the Lord came back and asked them to do a simple thing! but the next two times he returned and the same thing was happening! Elder Which do you want to be? the one that sleeps or the one that keeps watch for the Lord until the end?  It was truly a great interview and I enjoyed it a ton!! I absolutely love doing the interviews with the President because he is such a cool person and I just love talking with him! But ya it was great! So I have 18 months and it is weird and all I have to say is git'er done!

Well this last week was transfers again! We finally made it through the long cycle of 7 weeks instead of 6! with the added week everything felt different! after "week 6" was over I was like woha transfers........NO! oh ya that's right there are 7 weeks this cycle! But  there were transfers this last week and well I guess we will start with the meeting! So they changed the form of transfers again! Sunday night they called us and told us that who had transfers! But the catch was that they just said who was leaving not with who or where! our new comps and areas were posted on a list at the chapel on Tuesday! I got there and the list was posted and I found out that I would still be staying in my area with an Elder Rose!! Well so here is the catch to this! Elder Rose and I worked together for about a week and a half in Ayotla Ixtapaluca back in September when I had special transfers from Buenavista! So I am actually working with an old companion! It is super cool! He is from the Sacramento area and he was studying at BYU-I and is planning on getting a degree in engineering! He is cool and he loves to talk about what ever! it was actually a shock because we had worked together before and we were not expecting it! So it is really cool! On Tuesday I got caught up talking with Hermana Crickmore and she was explaining to me the presidents mindset! She told me that the President wanted to pull both of me and Elder Ponce out but at the same time he didn't want to white wash the area! So I am here this cycle to teach Elder Rose the area and then I am gone more than likely to another area to learn it and finish my mission training! I am okay with this!

So that was my craziness for the last few weeks.  Well i hope that you all have a good week and that you all can feel the spirit of the lord with you! I love you all so much and wish you all the best!

Love,

Elder Darcy

Christmas, New Years, and More

January 12, 2015

HEYO!!

Well it has been a few weeks since I have written! Sorry about that! The last couple of weeks have been super busy as it always is for this time of year! And well............................WE ARE INTO 2015!!!! My mind is going a little crazy with the holidays and busy work schedule it can make a person them super tired!! The holidays were good here! We had two weird weeks of a half day work and then a day of rest thanks to the holidays! But all is well and it was a lot of fun! Christmas was great here I got to talk to my family  and it was cold - even Snowed a little bit! I know right crazy! Then new years was good with a ton of drunk people in the streets! Very interesting to say the least! And now 2015 WOW this is it the "final stretch" With the holidays over and people working again and all the kids back in school we could start to work harder now that everyone is home from vacations!

Christmas 2014 (the last one of the mission.....no way!) I can't believe that! I will start with the 24th! We only worked till 6 and then we spent the rest of the night with our investigator XXXXXl and that was fun! It got super cold and it even snowed a little bit! It got so cold that I had to pull out the nice dress coat that my dad told me I might not ever use in my mission! I have used it a few times since! I am glad that my dad sent it with me! Then the 25th was good it was one of the few day we could sleep a little more! Since Christmas was on a Thursday we had our weekly planning that afternoon! Then the most funny of all! we went shopping! Yes there was a store open on Christmas! it was crazy! At three here we had planned on talking to our families! Well we got to the apartment complex that we had planned on going to and the guard told us the family we had planned to go with was not there that they had left like 20 min before! I called my families to let them know that i was going to Skype a little later and we found another family to go with and i got to Skype my families!! That was great!

Then with the new year 2015 all was calm! It was like the week before where Wednesday we worked till 6 and Thursday we didn't work we just did our weekly planning session and we hung out with the other two Elders in our district! It was great because it was a calm day so we grilled up some burgers and hot dogs and just relaxed! the new year was not all that exciting because we could not go any where or do much because of all the drunk people out in the streets!

Then this last week was good with a sad story in the middle :/ We finally got back to work this last week as everyone got into the swing of things all over again! we had more work! during the two weeks of the holidays we had 11 lessons the week of Christmas and the week of new years 13 so this last week we passed 20 which was great cause I was ready to go crazy with such little work! but this work made it better! The sad story is that this next week we were going to baptize on of our investigators, but that didn't happen because she moved to Guadalajara so ya........ that is like a 12 hour drive from here... But we have received a lot of referrals here in our area so our work is cut out for us!

I love you all and hope that you have a good week!

Until next week!

Love

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!‏

December 22, 2014

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!

WOW I cannot believe that this Christmas season is already here!! It's so crazy! Well This last week was a busy one! We Had the transfers meeting on Tuesday and then we had the Mission Christmas activity on Thursday and to top that all off we had the Ward Christmas party on Saturday!!! So it was a pretty busy week! And now here we are the week of Christmas!! Wow, what a week it has been! I guess no matter back home or in the mission this time of year is always super busy! But it has been good so far And the best part is that this week I get to see my families faces!!

So ya transfers were this week! I am now with my new comp Elder Ponce who is from Honduras and he is super cool and super funny! He is fresh out of his training and he is super humble and is willing to walk a ton and just be happy! I do have to say though that I felt as if Tuesday was the longest day of my mission because when my companion  got here he didn't talk a lot so it was super quiet and I just want this day to end!!! But all ended up good and I realized that these were his first changes from his first area! So it makes sense that he was quiet cause I am sure that he was feeling a little different to be in anew place and with a new person!

Then Thursday we had our Mission Christmas activity and it was in the Ameca stake center in Volcanas and I realized that I would not mind finishing my mission there! The activity was good we got a little bit of instruction and we  did some practices! After that we had the activities! We started off with the white elephant gift game! Then  after it was a big talent show for the mission! There were some cool things there and I loved it! There was this cool one with a yo-yo and one of the Mexican tops!  Then there was also beet boxing with a guitar! President Crickmore ordered from some place to bring us tacos! Very yummy!! It caught me off guard a little to look at the mission and realize that I do not recognize over half of the mission! It's crazy! Then the best thing happened! For the first time in two years I ate pumpkin pie!! It was SO GOOD! I was in heaven and sad when it was gone!

The Ward Christmas party was fun and i enjoyed it was just a talent show with dinner and the kids beating on like 5 pinatas! But it was cool!

Well to be honest I am happy that this Christmas season is here! In this year as we have approached this great day I have thought a lot about a song that means a lot to me! It is from a show called the Forgotten Carols and I love that show but one of my favorite songs from that is "Three Kings Found The Lord" Part of the chorus of that song is "Three Kings found the Lord, so can we!" I know that is true that we can find The Lord wherever we are and that He will bless us always! This is a great time that we have to remember The Lord and his birth! We should always remember Him throughout the year in all that we do! But this is the best time of the year to be with families and remember Him and remember that #HeIsTheGift!

I love you guys so much and wish you a Feliz Navidad!!!
