MULTI STAKE CONFRENCE!!!!

November 17, 2014

HOLA MI FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!!!

All goes well here! It has been a good week! Actually it has been a few good weeks and all! We had transfers and Elder Thomson and I are still together! It has been so much fun! I have loved being here in Chalco! It truly has been a great time! A few weeks ago we had a couple of confrences with a member of the area Seventy and the Elder who came was Elder Salinez! He is so cool! Then we had a multi-stake meeting and it was great! Elder Salinez talked about auto sufficency! It was super cool! Then ontop of that we had Stake Conference this last week! This was so cool, it was transmited from SLC! Other than that i cant believe November is already more than half over! CRAZINESS!!

So I do have to say I am proud to be an American!!... When Elder Salinez was here he talked about the auto sufficency! it was great and he told us"I wish Mexico could be more like the U.S!" I was like WOW that is super crazy!! He explained that In the US we pay our tithings we fast and we give service and it's not like the end of the world! It was actually kind of funny! When he said that the American Missionaries startd to laugh and well the Latin missionaries and members did not....... i guess they didnt find it that funny.... but it was cool! He said because we do those things in the U.S. he was like U.S. is on the first of two leves of auto sufficency! He explained that the first level was spiritual! with praying, reading the scriptures, going to the church, going to the temple, fasting, paying a full AND honest tithing, and service! He focused more on the first level because he said that Mexico is not even there yet! I was kind of intrested in what is in the second level because it souds like we are working for that back home! But it was super cool! It's always cool to be in the presence of a Seventy because they have such a strong spirit with them!

So Yesterday was cool because of the announcment of auto sufficency Mexico city, Pachuca (hildalgo), and Morelos (curnavaca) had a HUGE multi stake confrence transmited from SLC!! The Presiding General Authority was Elder Neil .L. Anderson! He was acompanied by Elder Richard .J. Maynes from the presidency of the Seventy, and from the Seventy Elder Daniel L Johonson and Elder Benjamin De Hoyos! They were also acompanied by sister Linda .S. Reves from the Relif society General \Presidency!

The conference was great! I have to admit it made us all smile when sister Reves, Elder Maynes and Elder Anderson gave their talks cause you could hear thier Gringo accents! It was funny but the talks were great! I do have to add that for Elder Anderson, he had a hard time saying capacitación and we all kind of chukkled but it was great!

Elder Johnson talked about how we are all a family of god and how we need to care for one another! He also talked about the importance of personal and family scripture study! He said something that is very true!! He said: There does not exist no reason to justify not studying the scriptures! I was like woah Que fuerte or how strong was that!

Elder De Hoyos talked about the importance of turning to the Lord in this work and he used the scripter from Matthew 11:28-30 which is:
28 ¶Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek andlowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.    3For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
It was pretty cool!

Then Sister Reeves talked about the reactivation of the less active members and how we have to visit them and be their friends! Elder Mayns talked about who we are and what we can do in the gosple and he talked about our potential!

Elder Anderson finshed with the home run! He talked about sacrifice and what we need to be willing to do and what we need to sacrifice! He also said something that got to me and that is "we need to sacrifice something good for something better" But it was great! He not only talked about sacrifice but he also talked about the blessings of sacrifice which is important!

So Ya my week was good I hope you all have a good week and that all goes well! I love you all and wish you the best!

Love,

Elder Darcy

Day of the Dead

November 3, 2014

I see dead people..............

HA HA, not really, but the last few days here it has been super crazy because the people here do not celebrate Halloween but the first two days of November they celebrate what is called Dia de Los Muertos! I can say it was super interesting to see that! All the kids dressed up and going door to door and they went to the different businesses. Here is also a fun fact, here in my zone is a place called Mixquic and they have a huge party for these types of events! A member told us that one year Tim Burton came down to that party and that is where he got his inspiration for a lot of his movies! This last week was really good! we got a lot of work done! There is some sad news however....... our investigator angel didn't get baptized this last week because they still need to take away dead skin on his foot :/  all is still well because we are going to visit him and make sure that he is ready as soon as possible! but over all it was a good week! I just can't believe that we are now into November now! it is super crazy!

November first and second are observed holidays here which are called Di de Los Muertos or the day of the dead!! It was actually cool to see it this year. in my area last year nothing much happened during this time. As we were walking we found someone who invited us to do one of the traditional face paints! it was kind of cool! I think its something I want to come back and see after the mission! All the kids dressed up and trick or treated at the different businesses and every one was going crazy! I think the worst part of the weekend was that one of our neighbors had a party right below us and they wee SUPER drunk..... they were yelling and chanting all night! They finally stopped around 4:30 in the morning!!!

Yesterday we took a taxi to take our injured investigator  to church. When we got to his house he was not there..... so we went to the church and they were not there either... so we called them and his wife told us that he had an appointment  to take off more dead skin and so it was more than likly that he will not be baptized for right now. But we told her No se preocupe Hna. becaue we will continue to come by and visit him and make sur that he is SUPER ready! She was pretty excited about that! Because This guy has nothing else to do but sit around he has been reading the Book of Mormon and now is in Alma! He has told us that he knows that this book is scripture from God! it was so cool to hear that!

Other than that the week was good! We did a lot more walking! Sorry that this letter is not as long it was just a lot of teaching and walking! But over all it was fun!

May God bless you all in this day and this week! I hope you all have a good sucessful week! I love you all!

Con mucho Cariño,

Elder Darcy
